James graduated from Royal Holloway University of London with a First Class Honours in Music and Maths, studying piano with James Kirby. He then attended the Rachmaninov Institute in Russia for piano master classes with Vadim Galushka.
James’ piano compositions and performances have been played on various radio stations including BBC Radio 3. He also writes educational children’s music that has been published nationally through ‘Sing Up’ and is currently working on music to promote well-being. James was also commissioned to write music for ‘We the Curious’ under-fives planetarium show.
He has played drums and guitar in bands at various festivals and gigs around the country. He is also a member of Instant Wit, providing musical accompaniment to improvised comedy and can be seen performing with them around the South West.
James offers one-to-one private piano, guitar and ukulele lessons around Bristol and Portishead. James also works for ‘Bristol Plays Music’, teaching small groups of children piano, guitar and ukulele in schools around Bristol. James is the co-author of ukulele quest www.ukulelequest.com, an educational book to teach children ukulele that has recently been published by Faber music.
He is fully DBS checked and a member of the ISM.
